Katie Rempel joined our instructor team in 2023 after completing the Classroom Assistant mentorship with Sarah Shapiro-Ward, and is a Certified Professional Dog Trainer, Knowledge Assessed (CPDT-KA).<\/p>\n
She is our senior instructor and is currently taking in-home Private Lessons for Foundation Skills, new rescue preparation, puppy socialization and preparation, cooperative-care, reactivity and fear. Katie also teaches introductory and advanced group classes.<\/p>\n
Katie\u2019s first career was as a Registered Nurse, working at the Mazankowski Heart Institute and the CK Hui Heart Centre in Edmonton. The skills of keen observation, effective teaching and communication and empathy were fostered in her previous career. While looking for work in her field after moving to Vancouver, Katie worked in a dog daycare. It wasn\u2019t long before she decided to pursue a career with dogs. She has since spent time managing a dog daycare, working in pet retail providing cooperative-care husbandry, walking dogs and pet sitting.<\/p>\n
Her goal is to share science-based, compassionate coaching to clients wanting to make positive, long-lasting changes to their dog\u2019s behaviour – all while strengthening the human-animal bond.<\/p>\n

Andre Yeu is one of only two Canadians to be part of the prestigious Karen Pryor Academy Faculty. In addition to leading When Hounds Fly, he teaches the flagship Dog Trainer Professional program for the Karen Pryor Academy.<\/span><\/p>\n He originally completed his Karen Pryor Academy certification in 2010 under Steve Benjamin.<\/p>\n He founded When Hounds Fly Dog Training in January 2010, starting as the only trainer in a single location, and oversaw its growth to six locations and a total of twenty trainers today.<\/p>\n Andre is often sought out by the media for his dog training expertise, and has appeared on television programs such as eTalk Daily, Global TV News, and he was the official dog trainer for the hit reality series, CBC\u2019s Over The Rainbow. In print, he\u2019s been interviewed by publications such as Canadian Living and the Toronto Star. He also speaks at industry conferences such as the annual IAABC Foundation Conference (2023), APDT Conference (2023), and ClickerExpo (2014).<\/p>\n
